Fire At Dawn Chronicles of the Free People Book One)Fire At Dawn Chronicles of the Free People Book One) by Ed Ireland

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I must admit, I have not read many books in this genre and this was an excellent one to read! I found it difficult to put down and it was far more interesting than I had imagined.

This book was an engaging read from the beginning. It opens up to Prince Veern running for his life being chased by Orcs. As he continues on his journey he is taken captive and then rescued by the very clan he was looking for. Hellion’s clan and the leader of the free people.

After telling Hellion why his father sent him, he did not waste any time reaching out to other ally clans and then taking off to aide the King in protecting the city of Bandashar.

They end up splitting into two groups and each caravan has their own unique adventures along the way. They have encounters with the vampire clan, orcs and other surprises that the evil sorceress has in store for them.

The story was well developed and character development was portrayed in a realistic and thoughtful manner. I really enjoyed the progression of relationships throughout the story.

The adventure was action packed and kept me turning the page. It was difficult to put down because I just had to see what happened! I felt the integration of allies and enemies to be quite believable and intriguing.

The fighting scenes were elaborate and well designed. There were a few twists that I didn’t even see coming. The different clans of people were interesting to get to know and I look forward to reading more about Prince Veern, Hellion and the Free People.
