Review of ‘The Mercenary’ by Johanna Rae

The MercenaryThe Mercenary by Johanna Rae

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So, let me just say that this book was absolutely amazing! I started reading it and I didn’t want to put it down, then I picked it up again last night and did not put it back down until it was done. As much as I wanted to start the second one, it was 3am and I really needed to get some sleep.

First, we meet Jodi who is trying to help her alcoholic brother, Luke to get his life back on track. This does not prove to be an easy task and to top it all off, she discovers that he is a shifter (a pig of all things). So, Jodi just accepts this new world around her without much difficulty.

Jodi meets this lustrous leopard that holds this appeal that she cannot describe. As this leopard saves her life, not once but three times, Jodi knows he is a shifter and wishes she could meet him in human form.

Once she finally meets her mysterious leopard, will she run into his arms willingly or run from him?

Jodi is a powerful character waiting to be exposed. She is caring and strong and makes a great female protagonist. The way her relationship with the leopard unfolds is unique, steamy and absolutely captivating. The descriptors placed me in the story and I watched as it unfolded around me!

This story was filled with action at every turn and I was never quite sure where we were headed next. It kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat, so that I had to keep turning the page. Definitely one of my new favorites and I am really looking forward to book 2, which is next up on my reading list!
