The Liger Plague by Joseph Souza

In The Liger Plague, we follow Colonel Tag, who specializes in the many diseases out there, especially the ones that can be used as weapons. His job is to keep the people safe from these diseases. So as he is getting ready to join his family on Cooke’s Island for the Art Festival he is introduced to a person named “Lenny” who has targeted Tag and his family. Now Tag must race to the island and prevent this virus, the “Liger” virus from being unleashed. Tag must follow all instructions given if he doesn’t want the same disease unleashed in bigger metropolitan areas.
This story was amazing. I had a difficult time putting it down, and only did because I knew that I needed more than a couple of hours of sleep to function correctly at work.
The characters were well thought out and their placement and contribution to the overall story line was marvelous. Watching the main character, Tag, as he struggles to save his family and is internally conflicted about killing human beings who are ill, but could potentially recover, makes him human. The situations portrayed were scarily realistic.
Well executed storyline. Loved the descriptors given by the author to give you the full understanding and visual image of what these poor suffering people looked like, smelled like and were going through.
A unique thought in itself and I loved every bit of it. It is a book that I couldn’t put down, and one that I will pick up and read again. Cannot wait to see what the second book brings! Would definitely recommend this book to any horror/zombie fans out there.
