Dead Sprint by David P. Anderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was a thrilling young adult/paranormal book. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and honestly had a very hard time putting it down.
This book opens with us meeting Casey. A scrawny freshman kid who is living with his overly strict Grandma since his mother went missing. Casey and his two buddies, Damien and Gabe are going to a party when they are bullied and then chased down for a beat down by the high school bully, Hank.
All three boys can’t believe their luck when a mysterious runner comes out of nowhere to help them. This enrages Hank who wants to find this runner and teach him a lesson and doesn’t have a problem with who he needs to hurt to get to him, starting with the three boys that this man saved.
You will experience, love, jealousy, rage, hate, hope, relief, anger and disappointment all throughout this novel. Casey and his two best friends all happen to be keen on the same gorgeous women, Casey has to avoid the wrath of Hank and his minions while trying to track down the mysterious runner and Casey regains hope that his mother will finally return to him.
The characters were developed early on in the book and they were done really well. I was able to understand and relate with their emotions and care about what was going to happen. The story flowed nicely amongst the characters, creating the relationships that give this story a great amount of strength and depth.
This story was written well and very engaging. It kept me guessing what was going to happen and there were points in the book that I really didn’t think the character would actually follow through with…but sometimes they did!
This book was definitely an interesting read! It has an engaging storyline with realistic characters and a definite twist of events that keep you interested.
