Ardalia: Turquoise Water by Alan Spade
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book picks up right where the first one left off. The story and characters are highly detailed. We follow the group for a brief period before they split up and go their own separate ways.
I really enjoyed the two different perspectives and the two different main struggles that each group has to overcome. It was refreshing and full of a lot of good action and story development. The internal struggles were compounded with the insurmountable politics and allied conflict. Not only do they have to warn everyone but they have to revisit their past struggles and problems. They have to break through political and strategic barriers.
We do get to see the characters grow in this book and their relationships develop even further then the first book. There were a couple of areas where I felt that the story was moving a little slow and maybe had quite a bit more detail then I felt necessary, but that is purely personal opinion as I have only recently starting reading this genre.
I love the authors writing style and the way the story unfolds on paper. His imagination is quite creative and the world he has developed is intriguing and one that I will definitely read more of! His ideas are new and refreshing.
