Hearts Unloched by Claire Gem

This book begins with Kate meeting Marco at the horse race track. Kate does interior design, and owns her own company. As luck would have it, Marco just bought an old abandoned hotel to renovate and he seeks Kate out, not only for her business partnership but also for her body. Their first meeting was filled with a mutual lust that led to a steamy session in the bedroom.
Afterwards, Kate struggles because she doesn’t mix business with pleasure, and she doesn’t want to work on his hotel because of her ‘vibes’ that she gets about the disturbed spirits that reside there. Against her better judgement she decides to take on the hotel renovation but vows to stay away from Marco. All the while, Marco continues pursuing this single, independent and sometimes maddening woman who also appears to be quite crazy at times.
This book is well written with excellent character development and depth. The story line is paced steadily throughout the book with the right amount of action and twists. There is mystery, love, betrayal, murder, supernatural and even some heartbreak in this story. The romance and tension between Kate and Marco is genuine and delivered expertly.
I enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this author.
