Reading The Dead: Fidelis In Aeternum by J.B. Cameron
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The second book in this series is just as good as the first. I am impressed with Cameron’s ability to construct such elaborate novels.
Sarah Milton is a detective in the Violent Crimes Unit and they have an impressive team that is dedicated to solving the heinous murders that take place in LA. Sarah is unique as she has some supernatural help in the form of a ghost, Anna.
Anna, adds mystery, wittiness and a great deal of fun to the storyline. I enjoyed her jokes, humor and her ultimate willingness to help. She cares deeply for Sarah and although they may grate the others nerves at times, they do make a great duo when it comes to solving crimes.
We see Sarah’s character grow in this book and even gain more insight into her past. Her budding relationship with Ryan is intriguing and will keep you engaged.
The mystery that Cameron lays out in this novel makes you unable to put the book down. I had to read it to the end and was deeply disappointed when it did end.
This story has the right amount of suspense, action, mystery, horror and light witted humor. This is by far one of the best supernatural detective series that I have read. I love the fact that Sarah is highly intelligent and perfectly capable of solving crimes on her own. The fact that she has Anna, who is invisible and can walk through walls is just an added bonus.
I love the fact that all the characters are realistic and their interaction is so natural, it isn’t forced at all. Cameron does a great job with character development and relationships between them.
I look forward to seeing more of Sarah in the future to see her career continue to progress and to see her relationships continue to develop.
